Upcoming bridges on two Hindon canals separating Indirapuram and Vasundhara could well be the answer to traffic woes faced by residents around CISF Road, Indirapuram. The two new bridges, being built by the irrigation department, are located right next to the existing bridge connecting Indirapuram and Vasundhara, near the Vasundhara police post. Work is expected to be complete by June 2018 on at least one of them. Currently, both incoming traffic from Vasundhara and outgoing traffic from Indirapuram ply on the existing two-lane bridge, better known as Kanauni Puliya or Kanauni bridges.

Speaking to City Spidey, residents of high-rises on CISF Road said that this bridge gets choked by peak-hour traffic, which in turn blocks traffic on CISF Road.

CISF Road, which connects Vasundhara to NH24 and Noida via Indirapuram, is ill-famed for heavy peak-hour traffic congestion and has attracted several complaints from residents and commuters.

According to officials of the irrigation department, once the new bridges are ready, the old bridge will be dedicated solely to incoming traffic from Vasundhara and Sahibabad, while the new ones will carry outgoing traffic from Indirapuram. Officials further said that construction work for the first portion of the two bridges was almost complete. The bridges will be 12 m wide, and have a total length of about 60 m.

Although being built by the irrigation department, these bridges are being funded by Ghaziabad Development Authority, GDA. SK Chauhan, executive engineer of GDA, said that Rs 12 crore had been allocated to the project. He added that apart from the construction of the new bridges, the project also included repair and renovation of the old bridge.
