Going to Galleria market? Be prepared for one chaotic experience!

The Galleria Market Association has a chaotic traffic situation on its hands. Cabs and autos parked haphazardly on the lanes near the upscale market leave no space for visitors and commuters to pass through. This has been the situation for the past almost eight months and the issue, already highlighted to the traffic authorities, has gone unaddressed.

There are two roads that are especially chaotic — the one between Galleria and Cross Point mall, and another connecting Galleria and Supermart. More than private vehicles, which sometimes get towed away, it is the cabs and autos that are more of a nuisance. They drive off when they see tow-away cranes approaching but come back again when they leave.

Residents and commuters from Ridgewood condominium, Hamilton Court and DLF Phase 4 are the worst affected.

“I travel from Vyapar Kendra to Galleria. But the stretch from Supermart to Galleria is a pain — what should take me five minutes now takes me 25 minutes !” said Deepak Rathore, a shopowner in Galleria.

Speaking about the issue, Neeraj Yadav, president of the Galleria Market Association, said, “We have recently highlighted the issue again to the traffic department. Let’s hope something gets done.”

"We have been fining people for parking here, but we need to work more towards preventing vehicles from being parked on these roads," said a traffic official.
