A woman, along with two others, were arrested on Wednesday night in the murder of international boxer Jitender Mann, who was found dead at his house in AVJ Heights in the Surajpur area of Greater Noida. Police have seized the murder weapon.

According to the police, the accused have been identified as Shrishti Gupta, who shot the boxer, along with her ex-boyfriend Imran and his accomplice Nafees. They conspired to eliminate Mann, as he was allegedly blackmailing Gupta over an indecent MMS. The accused were arrested around 10.35 pm near the Unitech Horizon society in Greater Noida, following a tip-off.

“After recovering the body of Mann from his flat, we scanned the society’s CCTV footage and found that a woman had entered the premises around 12.30 pm and exited around 4 pm. The woman was later identified as Gupta. Following a tip-off of her location, we nabbed her, along with two others, from the T-point near Unitech Horizon in Greater Noida,” said Sunit Singh, Superintendent of Police (Rural), Gautam Budh Nagar.

"During interrogation, Gupta revealed that she was in a relationship with Mann, and that he had shot an indecent video of her about a month ago without her knowledge. On January 10, she went to his flat, and after having lunch with him, she found the right time and fired several rounds at him, fleeing the spot with his phone and even the bullets. She also locked the flat and went away with the key," Singh said.

“She further revealed that Mann had started to blackmail her and was demanding money. Despite several requests, Mann did not delete the video. So, to get rid of him, Gupta took Imran’s help, an ex-boyfriend in Bulandshahr, who guided her and provided the murder weapon,” Singh added.

According to the police, Imran runs a slaughterhouse in Bulandshahr and guided Gupta on how she could evade arrest. “In a call recording retrieved from Gupta’s phone, we have found that Imran had taught Gupta how, when and where to shoot so as to kill him,” Singh said.

“While Gupta had gone to Mann’s house to eliminate him, Nafees was roaming around in the city with her phone, so her location, if traced, would show up as somewhere else. In the meantime, Imran was at Khuraji area with one of his phones switched off. The three met up in Noida in the evening with plans to escape the city,” Singh added.

Police said that Mann had gone to the gym in the morning on January 10. However, his phone was unreachable since evening. On January 12, Mann's family members found him dead, with three bullet injuries at his rented accommodation, and the door locked from outside.

Mann was a native of Alipur in Delhi. He had been working in Ultimate Fitness Academy in Alfa 1 for three years since he suffered a boxing injury. He was also associated with the Haryana State Boxing Association. Mann had represented India at a junior boxing championship in 2006 and had won a bronze at the Commonwealth Games in 2010.
