Crime in Greater Noida continues to grow at an alarming rate. Sub-Inspector Akhtar Khan of UP Police was shot dead by a gang of criminals around 5 am on Monday. The incident was reported from the New Dadri area, where Khan had conducted a raid on a gang of history sheeters. 

The gangsters opened fire on the police team, and Khan, who sustained gunshot injuries on the neck, died on the spot. The gangsters managed to escape.

DIG (Meerut Range) Laxmi Chauhan later reached the spot and told the media that a massive manhunt had been launched and that the culprits would be nabbed soon. SO Hom Singh Yadav has been suspended following the murder of Khan.

NP Singh, district magistrate of Gautam Budh Nagar, has announced financial assistance of Rs 20 lakh to the bereaved family.

Soon after the incident, a notorious criminal, Ankit Gujjar, who was being produced at the Surajpur court, managed to give police the slip and escape. Gujjar, with a reward of Rs 50,000 on his head, is said to be a member of the notorious Sundar Bhati gang.
