In a case of armed loot, a vegetable trader was shot near the Vasundhara red light in the early hours of the morning. According to police, the incident took place around 5 am, and the assailants, who had arrived in a Maruti Swift, fled the spot with the victim’s bag containing Rs 3 lakh.

The victim has been identified as Pawan Sharma, a resident of Avantika Colony. He was on his way to the Sahibabad vegetable market when the incident occurred. He had just gotten off the Mohan Nagar flyover and approached the Vasundhara traffic light, when five miscreants intercepted his car and snatched the bag containing the money from his vehicle.

When he tried to resist, the miscreants shot him in the face and fled. Sharma was being accompanied by his father, Ved Prakash Sharma, at the time, who is thankfully unharmed.

Severely injured, Sharma was rushed to the nearby Narendar Mohan Hospital and was later shifted to Yashoda hospital due to his deteriorating condition.

Hari Narayan Singh, senior superintendent of Ghaziabad Police, said that a single shot was fired at Sharma and the bullet hit his face. “Sharma is undergoing treatment and is out of danger at the moment. Police teams have been dispatched and the miscreants will be nabbed soon.”

Although the police said the bag contained Rs 3 lakh, family members maintained that Sharma was carrying around Rs 9 lakh with him.
