Today, Bharatiya Manav Kalyan Samiti, a social welfare organisation, had organised a seminar on road safety at the community centre located at Noida Sector 52. NP Singh, who is the president of the Federation of Noida RWAs (FONRWA), was the chief guest at this event.

Speaking to City Spidey, SC Sharma, president of Bharatiya Manav Kalyan Samiti said that the aim of the seminar was to educate residents of the city on five major factors that are related to commuter safety. These include use of seat belt, use of helmet, caution against over-speeding, avoiding drunken driving and the inherent safety hallmarks of the electronic braking system and airbags.

Sharma also said that a video was played at the seminar to demonstrate the nuances of road safety. The video also elaborated on the precautions that one should take to avoid accidents. "The RTO Department of Gautam Budh Nagar and the district administration should implement the Motor Vehicle Act very rigidly inorder to avert accidents,” Sharma added.

NP Singh said that road safety should be part of CBSEs curriculum. “FONRWA will soon write a letter to CBSE regarding this,” he added.

Noida Authority is developing a Traffic Park in Sector 108 that will have a auditorium for conducting special seminars on traffic rules. These seminars shall specifically be structured for the benefit of children. Until now, the traffic police and RTO have been conducting such safety seminars in school auditoriums.

“I will also request the RTO Department of Gautam Budh Nagar to send people to this traffic park before making or renewing driving licenses,” Singh informed.
