Members of People For Animals, or PFA, rescued a black Labrador from a house (I-610) in Alpha 2 of Greater Noida on February 13, after they came to know that the pet was left alone for four days without food or water while the family was supposedly vacationing in Jammu.

A complaint has been registered against the family for violation of Prevention of Cruelty to Animal (PCA) Act 1960, at Kasna police station.

PFA members Kaveri Rana Bharadwaj and Yash Raj Bhardwaj came to know of the incident from the neighbours. They visited the house and rescued the Lab with help from police.

The dog is called Pepper.

The family, from Jammu, had shifted to the house just a few days back, so the neighbours knew very little about them. But they heard the dog’s cries from inside while the home was locked from outside.

Kaveri confirmed, “Pepper was taken to an animal hospital for check-up, and is now safe. It has been kept at Smart Sanctuary — Animal Rehabilitation Centre, in Greater Noida.”

Brijesh Kumar, station officer (SO) at Kasna police station, told City Spidey, “We have received the complaint and are investigating the matter. Nobody knows much about the family, except for the fact that they went for a vacation.”

The rescued Lab is now at an animal rehabilitation centre in Greater Noida
