The annual ceremony held at this triservice memorial in Sector 29 is an attempt to bring the soldiers and civilians together on a common platform.

Martyrs remembered at Shaheed Smarak Sansthan in Noida

Shaheed Smarak Sansthan in Sector 29, Noida, celebrated the 17th Annual Wreath Laying Ceremony today. Homage was paid to 38 martyrs.

The ceremony was presided over by the chief guest, Air Chief Marshal Birender Singh Dhanoa. He was accompanied by his wife, Kamalpreet Dhanoa, the president of the Air Force Wives Welfare Association. They were received by Lt Gen GL Bakshi, chairman of Shaheed Smarak Sansthan, and its executive director, Lt Gen Gorakh Nath.

The chief guest laid down the wreaths, followed by Lt Gen Asit Mistry Singh and Rear Admiral Mukul Asthana, on behalf of the Army and the Navy, respectively.

After that, families of the 38 martyrs, civil and military dignitaries, IAS and IPS officers, heads of Arun Vihar and Jalvayu Vihar institutions, defence personnel, veterans, students and common citizens paid their homage.

Tri-service guards and buglers stood in attention, while students of Army Public School, Noida, sang patriotic songs.

Later, Air Marshal SB Deo met the families of the martyrs and released a souvenir, Glimpses of Events 2017.

Narinder Mahajan, a member of Shaheed Smarak Sansthan, explained to City Spidey, “The main purpose of the function is to bring the soldiers and civilians together on a common platform to inspire the young generation.”

Shaheed Smarak Sansthan is the first triservice memorial in the country, founded in April 2002.
