Dwarka: DDA pockets in Sector 12 demand separate UGRs

RWAs of six DDA pockets in Sector 12 are demanding separate Under Ground Reservoirs (UGRs) to tide over the water crisis in summers. Currently, there’s just one UGR serving six pockets, often leading to a shortage in supply.

President of Rehayashi Apartments in Sector 12, Ved Prakash, said to City Spidey, “The UGR at Sector 12 supplies water to six pockets of 2,3,4,5,6 and 7. So every summer, the situation turns dire. Since we are at the tail end of the sector, we face more problems. We have requested the area representatives and also the Delhi Jal Board officials to look into our demand.”

Like Rehayashi Apartments, other societies such as Dwarka Kunj, Indraprastha, Dwarka Dheesh, and others societies too have to suffer in the summers.

Former general secretary of Dwarkadheesh Apartments in Sector 12 of Pocket 2, Anjana Sinha, said, “Societies near the UGR get water first, but societies at distance have to bear the brunt. Also, flats at the end of any particular society fare badly during the summer months when the water pressure is low. This problem rears its head every year, despite sufficient DJB supply to Dwarka .This is an infrastructural issue, and must be addressed by the authority promtly.”

The same sentiments were echoed by MP Singh, a resident of Shubham Apartments in Sector 12 of Pocket 4.

When City Spidey contacted DJB PRO, Nidhi Srivastav, she said, "I can comment after speaking to the concerned officials. But surely, things will be redressed."
