Parks will not turn into drinking dens...DDA and police assure Dwarkaites Interactive meeting between residents, DDA and police officials in progress on Saturday

On Saturday, residents of Dwarka Sector 6 congregated at DDA Park No 3 to discuss their civic woes with DDA and local police officials.

The interactive session had been organised by Green Circle, an NGO working on environment conservation.

The residents told the authorities that the neighbourhood parks have inadequate/dysfunctional lights and poor security. After sunset, these parks become havens for ant-social elements who consume liquor or drugs. The residents have requested DDA and local police officials to address this issue urgently.

Jameel Ahmed, deputy director of horticulture, DDA, Dwarka and HS Rawat, executive engineer DDA, promised that the issue will be resolved soon. The police officials in turn stated that the beat constables will be asked to take immediate action on people who drink in public spaces.

The volunteers of Green Circle along with residents of various societies also cleaned the park after the interactive session was over. Residents of Surya Apartments, Youngster Apartments, Diamond Square Apartments, Anusandhan Apartments (all in Sector 6) and  Sri Agrasen Apartments (in Sector 7) had participated in the cleaning drive. Together they cleaned up the horticulture compost pits and removed polythene and other such toxic waste materials from the pit.
