The mysterious charring of an unidentified person inside a Swift Dzire near Ullahawas village on Saturday night continues to elude police. The deceased could not be identified since the body was charred beyond recognition. Hence, DNA verification will now be carried out to establish the identity of the deceased.

The autopsy conducted by doctors could only confirm that the victim was a man. Since the body was found on the passenger seat of the car, the police have not ruled out foul play.

Dr Deepak Mathur, who conducted the post-mortem examination, said the DNA and viscera samples of the victim will be used establish his identity, and to rule out the possibility of drug or alcohol use. The samples have been sent to the laboratory.

He added, “The body, it seems, kept on burning for several minutes after the death of the victim. The body has ante-mortem burn injuries and even the bones were broken.”

Meanwhile, the police said investigation has been initiated on the complaint of the car owner, Rajesh Kumar, who hails from Narnaul. The car was registered with cab aggregating service Ola. Suspiciously, the complainant’s nephew, identified as Vikram, has been missing since the car-burning incident. He lived in Kadarpur village on rent and drove the Swift Dzire across Delhi-NCR.

It is likely that DNA samples from relatives of Kumar will be taken to find out whether he was in the car, or it was someone else.
