GreNo: Ceiling plaster collapses in Panchsheel Greens 2 flat

In what could have been a serious accident, a portion of plaster from the bedroom ceiling in a flat in Panchsheel Greens 2, Noida Extension, collapsed early this evening. The incident took place in Flat No 1602 of Tower B5, around 7 pm. The Tripathy family had shifted to the flat about two months back. Thankfully, no one was hurt.

Around 8 pm, residents of the society held a demonstration against the builder, saying he used inferior-quality material for construction.

Mrinal Tripathi, the owner of the flat, said that his son, 2.5 years old, had a narrow escape, as he was sleeping in the room but got up and left just before the ceiling plaster collapsed.

“My wife heard a loud noise from the room, like something heavy crashing, and went in to check. Thankfully, my son wasn’t hurt. But we are amazed that the builder has used such poor-quality material," Tripathi said.

Immediately after the incident, Tripathi called up officials of the builder and then the maintenance department. "They said they will repair the ceiling tomorrow," Tripathy said.

Residents of the society shudder at how dangerous the incident could have been.

Interestingly, the builder is yet to get the occupancy and completion certificates from Greater Noida Authority.

Almost 150 families are already living in the society.

Do we blame them for being scared that they may be next?
