Dr Ajay Pal, the new SSP of Gautam Budh Nagar, is clearly a man on a mission. Renowned as an encounter specialist, he has been entrusted with the responsibility of curtailing the crime rate in the region by Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.
His job is clearly cut out — to eliminate Sunder Bhati and Anil Dujana gangs, which have become synonymous with crime and terror in western Uttar Pradesh.
Uttar Pradesh was promised huge investments by various industrial houses during the recently concluded Investors Summit in Lucknow. Many of these industrial houses prefer setting up their production units in Noida, Greater Noida and Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA), but the law and order situation prevents them from coming here.
The very names of Bhati and Dujana spell terror in the region and both the gangs have been involved in all kinds of deadly crimes, with extortion being their priority.
According to reports, Dujana's gang has already teamed up with the Mukeem Kala gang and the Neeraj Bawana gang of Delhi to emerge as a formidable force. All the three gangs have divided their share and work areas.
Whereas Dujana arranges modern weaponry for the gang members, apart from performing contract killings — also known as "supaari killings" — the Mukeem Kala gang undertakes responsibility for execution of the crimes. The Neeraj Bawana gang is in charge of providing safe shelter to fugitive gangsters.
The new SSP of Gautam Budh Nagar, nicknamed ‘‘Encounter Man’’ by none other than the Director General of Police (UP) OP Singh, has been entrusted with this ''operation clean-up''.
Dr Pal is an IPS officer of the 2011 batch and the encounter of lethal criminals is considered to be his expertise.
Last posted as SP Shamli, Dr Pal had already started unearthing plans to decimate the Sunder Bhati and Anil Dujana gangs. He and his team had successfully nabbed Sunder Bhati's brother Sahdev and nephew Anil Bhati last Saturday. Both the dreaded criminals carried a bounty of Rs 50,000 on their heads.
With the ''Encounter Man'' firmly saddled in the seat of SSP Gautam Budh Nagar, there is not an iota of doubt that notorious gangs operating from western UP, especially areas of Greater Noida, will have a run for their money and Gautam Budh Nagar can be a safer place in the near future.
