Irked parents of DPS Indirapuram launch signature campaign

The move has come in the wake of hiked monthly fees. To keep the campaign seamless, parents have formed localised, society-based groups.

The recent hike in the monthly fees of DPS Indirapuram has left parents feeling irked. And now, they have started a city-wide signature campaign against what has been perceived as an arbitrary move by the school.

Speaking to City Spidey, parents said that the school had recently hiked the school fees, which included various heads apart from the regular tuition fees. “They have hiked the annual charge, added an additional charge of Rs 500 rupees to accommodate Seventh Pay Commission recommendations and also increased bus charges among others. These charges are unjustified and are against the interest and welfare of parents,” lashed out Priyanka Rana, president of DPS Indirapuram Parents Welfare Association.

To make it easier for parents to connect, individual societies have formed groups and they are localised campaigns. “Each of these societies have groups. Apart from them, we also have group meetings in common locations in the mornings and evenings to discuss the issue. Several hundred parents have joined us so far,” Rana stressed.

Parents plan to continue the campaign till Wednesday before approaching the school authorities.

They further told City Spidey that they had been paying annual charges for several years now without seeing any visible benefits. “We have been paying charges in the name of swimming pool, but my child will leave the school soon without ever having used the pool. We pay for everything right from magazines, programmes, trips — and what not! The services we get are not at par with the fees — it’s unfair,” protested a parent.
