Ghaziabad: BTech student goes missing after exiting Vaishali Metro Station Maz Khan

A BTech student of I.T.S Engineering College, Greater Noida has gone missing after exiting the Vaishali Metro Station in Ghaziabad yesterday evening. After missing his flight to Saudi Arabia (which he was supposed to board from the Indira Gandhi International Airport), Maz Khan (20) was heading back to his home in Meerut. He was supposed to meet his family members who were waiting for him at Mohan Nagar, which is close to the metro station.

According to his family, Maz was going to Saudi Arabia to meet his father Iftikar Khan. He was dropped off at the Vaishali Metro Station by them in the afternoon. After this the family had proceeded to Muradnagar to meet other relatives.

"At around 9.30pm we received a call from Maz saying that he had missed his flight and was returning from the airport. We offered to pick him up from the airport but he refused and said that he would come back via metro. Infact he told us that he had already boarded the train. After he got off the metro in Vaishali Maz told us to wait for him at the Mohan Nagar intersection. He said that he would reach us in a shared auto,” narrated Mohammed Gulfam his maternal uncle.

The family panicked when Maz had not reached the intersection until 10.45pm. “We dialled his number at around 10.45pm. Our call was received by a girl who only said hello. However, we could clearly hear Maz’s voice in the background.  He was inquiring about his own whereabouts. We could not contact him ever since. His phone has been switched off,” Gulfam informed.

“There is no way that my son could have lost his way. He has been to Saudi Arabia several times and travels to Greater Noida from Meerut regularly. We suspect that the girl and the auto driver have abducted my son,” said Farhana Khanum, Maz’s mother.

A missing person’s report has been lodged at the Indirapuram police station. “We are investigating the matter,” said Pawan Kumar, senior sub inspector of the station.
