Sexual and mental harassment drove Ahlcon student to suicide…say parents

A 16-year-old girl, committed suicide at her residence in Noida on Tuesday. The deceased was a class IX student of Ahlcon Public School, Mayur Vihar Phase1 and had reportedly failed in two subjects in the class 9 examinations. Raghav Shah, the father of the deceased, who is a classical dance teacher trained under Pandit Birju Maharaj told City Spidey that his daughter had also accused her social sciences teacher of sexually harassing her and "touching her inappropriately".  A case has been registered in this regard under Sections 306 and 506 of the IPC and Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (POCSO Act).

Parents allege that the school principal and management denied to meet them. “The school issued us the report card but refused to hand over our daughter's answer sheets,” alleges the father.  The victim was depressed and disturbed due to her low marks and had written in her notebook –“I am dumb. I am a failure.”

Police is thoroughly investigating the matter.
