Ekisha Shah suicide case: Aggrieved parents protest, demand CBI probe Ekisha Shah suicide case

Ekisha Shah’s aggrieved parents have demanded a CBI probe in their daughter’s suicide apart from immediate arrest of two accused teachers of Ahlcon Public School who allegedly forced her to end her life. Further, they also demanded the arrest of the school’s Principal.

The 16-year-old’s parents staged a protest outside the school in East Delhi's Mayur Vihar area accompanied by other parents on Thursday. The protesting parents also blocked the main Mayur Vihar road, which connects Noida and Delhi, thus, affecting the traffic flow.

Ekisha’s parents have alleged that the Noida police is carrying on the investigation in a biased manner.

The Gautam Budh Nagar police are yet to arrest the accused even two days after the class 9 Noida girl allegedly committed suicide following academic and sexual harassment by teachers inside her house. Prima facie it is difficult to understand if the girl was intentionally failed or the teachers harassed her.

The police have claimed that although the family is demanding the arrest of the accused, they are still investigating the case and trying to gather concrete evidence.

“We have not received any evidence against the three till now but we are trying to connect the dots between the three based on the family member’s allegation. The girl has not left behind any suicide note neither has she named any one in any way. We will only be able to arrest anyone until we find concrete evidence,” said Rajeev Kumar Singh, Circle Officer 2 (City).

Police have asked the girl’s family to corporate with them in the matter but the family members blocked the roads and created inconvenience for the general public.

“We had asked the family to come to us for any sort of help or demand. However, this behaviour by the family members is not at all tolerable. We are trying our best to collect proof so that we can make a head way. We will do fair probe into this case and based on the findings appropriate action will be taken,” said Singh.

According to a senior police officer, a lot of students of the same school failed in Maths, Science and Social science so it isn’t sure that whether Ekisha was failed deliberately. However, we understand that it is a very serious issue and hence we are thoroughly investigating it. No conclusions can be reached regarding the case so early.

Noida Police has filed an FIR against two teachers and principal under the IPC Sections 306 (abetment to suicide), 354 (sexual harassment and punishment for sexual harassment), 506 (punishment for criminal intimidation) and POCSO Act."

The class 9 student, who committed suicide on Tuesday, was a resident of Sector 52 in Noida. Her family has alleged that one of the teachers of the school had tried to abuse her sexually and had even threatened to fail her in the examination while the other de-motivated her.
