Gaur Green City overhauls firefighting system

An apartment on the ninth floor of Gaur Green City was gutted in a fire yesterday. Though the fire was put out successfully, it took the fire department longer than usual to complete the job, owing to low pressure in the society's firefighting pipeline.

Less than a day after the incident, the society's AOA has already started repairing the leaking pipe that caused the low pressure, along with thorough inspection and repair of the entire network of pipes to ensure a foolproof firefighting system.

Ajay Kumar Sharma, fire officer, Vaishali fire station, had supervised yesterday's operation. He told City Spidey that the only hindrance in putting out the fire was low pressure in the firefighting pipelines.

Jigyasu Pant, general secretary of the AOA, confirmed that there was a leak in one of the pipes, which could not be detected as it was laid under the ground. The worn-out pipe started leaking, causing the pressure in the rest of the pipe to drop.

"We have already replaced over 240 m of old pipelines in the past two years," added Pant. "We as a team have started replacing and fixing all the worn out pipes."

Prasad Nair, president of the AOA told City Spidey that they had taken the incident seriously. "The society, as a unit, has been quite proactive in repairing the worn-out pipes. We are positive that the pipes will be rectified soon," added Nair.
