Robbers strike at builder’s office in DLF 2 Gurgaon, decamp with Rs 40 lakh

Thieves broke into a builder's office in Gurgaon and  escaped with Rs 40 lakh on Friday. Builder Gaurav Sahni was abroad with family holidaying when the incident took place.

Unidentified robbers struck at the offices of a builder in DLF Phase 2 of Gurgaon, Urban Landpro Infratech Pvt Ltd, on Friday and decamped with Rs 40 lakh in cash that was kept in the locker of the filing cabinet.

According to police, the money received as advance from three flat buyers was kept under lock and key and was to be given to contractors for work.

Gaurav Sahni, the director of the company, told the police in his complaint that he was abroad with his wife, also a director, when the robbery took place.

“A sum of Rs 40 lakh had been received from three clients as advance booking amount and had been kept safely in a filing rack by an executive — to make payments to contractors after I returned,” he said.

On March 30, two office boys, Nafees and Vivek, and a field boy Anil Kumar reached the office around 9 am and found the main gate on the ground floor unlocked. When they reached the second floor, they saw that the lock on the main door broken as also the door was ajar. Immediately, they informed the company’s senior employees, who reached the spot within minutes.

They checked the room that housed the file cabinet with the money. The file cabinet was also found forcibly opened and the cash missing.

Police has registered a case at the DLF Phase 2 police station under sections 350 and 457 of the IPC and is investigating.
