Noida Sector 49 Police station is investigating the death of a stray bitch, allegedly beaten up by security guards employed at Supertech Capetown society in Sector 74 on the orders of a few residents of the colony.

People for Animal (PFA), a NGO working on dogs’ welfare, filed a complaint with the police that a stray female dog was brutally beaten up security guards with sticks after residents of the Supertech Capetown society ordered them to do so.

The police have registered a case but no arrests have been made so far. A police inspector told City Spidey that “we are studying the CCTV footage of the colony to find out the facts.”

"Recently, a young boy was bitten by a stray dog inside the society premises. On March 29, guards rained blows on the dog that was sleeping peacefully in the society,” said Pragati Khanna, PFA member.

"An eyewitness noticed 4 to 5 guards of the society thrashing the dog in the presence of four society members. The dog was later taken to a nearby animal dispensary where she succumbed to injuries in Friday night,” Khanna said.

The dog's post-mortem was carried out on Saturday morning. Doctors stated that it's death took place due to severe injuries to it's spine and head. Following this, Khanna lodged a complaint with the police.

"We have received a complaint and on the basis of that an FIR has been registered against the builder, security agency of the society and four residents of the society (Aditya Khanna, Shyam Sankar, Anirudh Tiwari, Nishant Dubey) under Section 429 (prohibits mischievous killing or maiming of an animal, making the offender liable to be punished with a five-year jail term, with or without a fine) of the Indian Penal code, Section 11 of Prevention of Cruelty to Animal Act (PCA) Act 1960. We are scanning the CCTV footages of the society to find the facts," said a senior police officer.

Khanna further alleged that the police took the case lightly. Even though the case is a cognizable offense requiring immediate arrest without a warrant, the police did not arrest anyone so far, Khanna lamented.

Aditya Khanna, one of the accused, told City Spidey that it was a false case foisted on him. “I am a dog lover and have a 4-year-old dog. I have also joined an NGO, which helps to adopt dogs.”

He said he was not even aware of the incident regarding the alleged violence against the dog.
