As Dalit protests erupted all over the country, Ghaziabad administration ordered closure of all schools and colleges on Friday. However, schools in Noida and Greater Noida will remain open.
Dalit organisations held a nationwide protest on Monday against a Supreme Court order which diluted the provisions of the Scheduled Castes and Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, 1989.
The district administration of Ghaziabad ordered closure of all schools (upto Class XII) and colleges on Tuesday in view of the prevailing law and order situation arising out of the protests which also rocked NCR.
The order has been issued by acting district magistrate Ramesh Ranjan. He has also sent a copy of the order to the Education Department.
However, the District Administration of Gautam Buddh Nagar confirmed that no such orders have been passed in the district. Schools in Noida and Greater Noida are set to remain open tomorrow.
