A 2-year-old child fell into the swimming pool of Supertech Eco Village 1 in Noida Extension yesterday night.
The child's father, Amit Gupta, took him out for a stroll in the society's garden area, when the child strayed away and accidentally slipped into the pool. Gupta was talking on the phone when his son wandered off.
Luckily, Sarojini Mishra, a resident of the society, spotted the child from her balcony and came running down, screaming for help. She finally managed to dive into the pool and pull him out, but the child had gulped a lot of water and had lost consciousness. The child was taken to a hospital in Sector 50, where the doctors managed to save his life.
Gupta blamed the Supertech management for the incident, as the pool was left unguarded. "When I complained to them, they lectured me on child safety. The Supertech staff also warned me to not get in touch with the media," he said. "They asked me to keep my mouth shut, as they were ready to pay the hospital bills."
