Noida: Parents association demand revocation of Step by Step school's licence

The All Noida School Parents Association has demanded that Step by Step school's affiliation should be cancelled due to the food poisoning incident arising from there.

The All Noida School Parents Association (ANSPA), an association representing parents of school going kids of the city, is set to meet the Meerut Zone Commissioner on Monday regarding the issue of food poisoning in Step by Step school on Friday.

In a shocking incident, a large number of students of Step by Step school in Sector 132 are suspected to have fallen victim to food poisoning after having lunch in the school on Thursday. The students fell sick soon as they ate the food and suffered from stomach ache and vomiting.

K Arunachalam, Secretary of All Noida School Parents Association said that he will soon meet Prabhat Kumar, Commissioner of Meerut Zone and request that the play-school’s affiliation be canceled and strict action should be initiated against its management. 

"The schools must have food safety staff whose job should be to ensure that right quality of food is served to the children," Arunachalam said.

The police said that they are trying to contact the parents of the sick children in order to record their statements and further investigate the case. Meanwhile, the food and supply department has taken samples of the edible items used in the food and sent them for inspection.

The district administration has lodged an FIR under sections 328 (Causing hurt by means of poison), 341(Punishment for wrongful restraint) and 332(Voluntarily causing hurt to deter public servant from his duty) against the school management.

Vedpal Singh Pundir, Station Officer of Expressway Police Station said that till now, only a parent of one of the school students’ has complained against the Step by Step school management. “We have merged the FIR lodged by him with the one filed by the District administration on Thursday night,” he added. He further added that the statement of the child and his parents has also been recorded.
