The Step by Step school in Noida has been under constant scrutiny ever since the incident of kids getting affected by food poisoning happened. Now, the team of Chief Medical Officer has taken the water samples from the school for testing on Wednesday.

Anurag Bhargava, CMO, told City Spidey that they are segregating the investigation of food poisoning case in three parts.

First will be focussed on finding why this type of incident happened. Second will be aimed at ensuring this type of incidents will not happen in future. Third will be that the administration will issue an advisory to all the schools in the district to take proper action to safeguard the students in within seven days.

"A team of District Magistrate, is working on the first subject and two subjects are being taken care by the CMO department team,” Bhargava added.

Bhargava confirmed that he has got the list of 190 students and school staffs who had fallen ill after consuming food in the school.

“School handed over the name and class of the students and the staff members along with the symptoms report. Students of the class nursery to class twelve were affected,” Bhargava added.

According to sources, around 14 teachers, around 60 students of class 1 to 6 and 116 students belonging to class VII to XII were affected after eating the contaminated food.

Students of Step by Step school in Sector 132 had fallen victim to food poisoning after having lunch in the school on April 6. The students had fallen ill soon after they ate the food. They complained of severe stomach ache and vomited. It is also alleged that immediately after the incident, the school’s administration had prevented officials from inspecting the premises and held them at the gate for hours before letting them in.

School management also denied entry to the district administration team, which was led by Mahendra Kumar. The team had gone for investigation of the matter but they were forced to stand for two hours outside the gate.

After that, the district administration had then lodged an FIR under sections 328 (Causing hurt by means of poison), 341(Punishment for wrongful restraint) and 332 (Voluntarily causing hurt to deter public servant from his duty) against the school management.

However, the school authorities of Step by Step School had later written to district administration saying that they will fully cooperate in the investigation. They have also extended their apologies for the mishap that happened on the premises.
