Dwarka: Panicked over rising dengue cases, residents demand fogging

To check the increase in breeding of mosquitoes in the area, the residents of various societies in Dwarka are demanding fogging in the area. The residents are worried over the rising cases of dengue being reported in the newspapers.

Citing a particular news report and increase in breeding of mosquitoes, the residents are requesting the Mayor of South Delhi Municipal Corporation, Kamaljeet Sehrawat, to issue directions for fogging in the area.

President of Arvind Apartments Sector 19, Kehkashan Singh said, “You cannot sit in the society parks during morning and evening because thousands of mosquitos are there. They bite continuously and it is really very difficult to sit peacefully even for a minute.”

“In such kind of scenario, people fear that they might get dengue or chikungunya. We want this breeding of mosquitoes to stop and that is why we requested fogging. We don’t know the technicalities regarding the implementation of fogging but surely want it to happen soon,” said Kehkashan Singh.

Secretary of Nuva Apartments, Sector 10, SL Malhotra said, “ Mosquitoes are increasing day by day and we want this to be checked. They say that fogging cannot be done this time but how we will survive.”

“Mosquitoes wouldn’t ask and bite neither they would follow guidelines. This is a serious issue and it needs to be addressed as soon as possible. They say that they have sprayed medicine but that is certainly ineffective and you can feel it with the increased number of breeding,” added Malhotra.

City Spidey also had a talk with Mayor of SDMC, Kamaljeet Sehrawat on the subject. She said, “According to Delhi High Court’s order, no fogging can be done this time as the season is not suitable for that. Definitely, there is news of some cases of Dengue in other areas yet there is no need to be panic. But, I am going to take this subject into consideration. What the law would say we would follow.”
