Dwarka: Residents miffed as faulty signals plague traffic at many places

The commuters in Dwarka are completely miffed with the frequent problems at many traffic signals in the area. They complained that it has become very difficult for them to cross the faulty traffic signals. It is also causing a lot of traffic chaos.

The people living in Dwarka said that faulty traffic signals can be spotted at all the places in the area including master plan roads or the internal roads.

The commuters said that there are some signals which do not work at all whereas there are some which are partially operational. They added that people often get confused at these signals and are constantly facing traffic chaos.

Some of the signals are known for its disturbances which include signals at Shakti Chowk, KM Chowk, Sector 3, Sector 8, Sector 13 and Sector 12.

Vice President of Dwarka Forum, AS Chatwal said, “The signal at Sector 8 near DTC Depot always has a problem. I think there must be a major fault. Hence, the place has become accident-prone zone. Authorities should ensure proper functioning of the signals.”

The residents have been raising this issue with civic authorities and also discussing the problem at various platforms. But, the situation has not improved.

Treasurer of Dwarka Forum, P Menon said, “The signal at Dwarka International School crossing is defective since many weeks.  Why should people come forward and pinpoint such things every time? Some traffic officials would have certainly seen the problem with the traffic signal.”

The residents also blamed that they got cold responses from the officials everytime they approached them.

“We complain because we want smooth traffic flow in the area. But, whenever we have called them, they don't respond properly. They have ignored the issues many times. I feel that Traffic Police should be more attentive and concerned about this kind of issues,” said Prakash Gautam, a resident of Sector 4.

President of Dwarka Forum, Rejimon CK, has been approaching the authorities on the issue of maintenance of Traffic Signals for a long time. But, his experience is also not good.

“The maintenance of these lights is a very serious issue and Traffic Police should ask the agency related to the maintenance to fix the issue without any delay. This area has been lacking in that,” said Rejimon.

Traffic Inspector, Dharm Pal Mann said, “The signals are checked daily by traffic staffs in their respective areas and they get it repaired in case of any problem. However, there are some complicated cases. Repairing of such signals takes time. Traffic staffs make prompt effort to address the issue.”
