A special team of Delhi police on Saturday arrested a wanted criminal Harender Nagar who was also a mastermind of land mafia Moti Goel’s murder. He was arrested at Mehrauli-Badarpur road. A cash reward recommendation of Rs 25,000 has already been sent by UP Police.

Police recovered one carbine and one country-made pistol containing 12 live cartridges and 5 used cartridges. According to police, they had got a tip-off that the notorious gangster of UP would be going towards Mehrauli via MB road in a white swift car.

“Police team was deployed at MB Road and they intercepted the accused in his white Swift car. Accused fired three rounds and two rounds were fired by the police. The police team overpowered and arrested the accused,” said Chinmoy Biswal, deputy commissioner of police.

Harinder was the mastermind in the murder of a 55-year-old alleged land mafia kingpin Moti Goel who was shot dead in broad daylight by unidentified men on April 16 around 4.30 pm at a construction site near Barola T-point.

Arun Kumar Singh, SP city, told City Spidey that he will raise the demand in court for the remand of Harender. "We want to thoroughly interrogate the murder case of Moti Goel as we have doubt that few more persons were also involved in this murder," Singh said.

Goel, a resident of Ghaziabad, was shot dead when he was sitting on a chair at his disputed construction site of over 1,000 square yard area. The assailants had fired seven bullets of which three to four hit Goel in head and stomach.

Goel was facing about a dozen criminal cases including some cases from CBI and was even jailed for disputed land deals. He was in jail for over a decade.

Harender told police that he met Goel in Dasna Jail in 2008. He added that Goel was a land mafia of Western UP and was in need of criminals for overpowering disputed lands. He said that Goel convinced him to join his gang and offered handsome amount and share in the property.

“After coming out from jail, Harender started working with Goel. They grabbed a property in Barola Village (Noida) and took possession. After some time, Goel started avoiding Harender and stopped his commission and also threatened him for life. So, before Goel could kill him, Harender killed Goel,” police said.

Earlier on April 23, the Gautam Budh Nagar police arrested two sharpshooters at Sector-49, Noida who was involved in the murder of Moti Goel. The Police said that the two sharpshooters were hired for Rs 10 lakh by an absconding history-sheeter, Harender. They further added that the shooters had earlier made several unsuccessful attempts to kill Goel.

More than 13 FIRs were lodged against the Harender in arms act, gangster act and murder case. One FIR was lodged in Sikandra bad Police station and 8 FIRs were lodged in Dhankor Police station, 3 cases were registered in Kasna police station and one murder case in Sector-49 police station.
