Taking the crusade against financial irregularities and fee hikes to next level, the All School Parents Association (ASPA) on Monday asked parents to raise a set of demands from their respective schools in Ghaziabad.

The demands included online payment of fees into a single account of school, audit of the school’s financial records along with a fee circular, regulation of Parent Teachers Association (PTA) and identification of members.

“We have asked parents to demand a single IFSC code for a single account so that the fees are paid in a single account. Moreover, we are also going to raise demands for carrying out the school’s expenditure from the same account,” said Shivani Jain, president of ASPA.

According to members, the demand has been raised to ensure transparency and school’s funds are not misappropriated or used for other purposes other than the welfare of the school.

Meanwhile, parents also raised demands for transparency in operation of PTAs as there are instances when associations support the school managements in case of fee hikes.

Parents said that private schools in Ghaziabad had recently issued circulars asking parents to submit fees at the school finance department instead of directly depositing it in the bank accounts.

The Uttar Pradesh government has already passed a fee regulatory ordinance for the regulation of school fee hikes in private schools. The ordinance included various issues like limited fee hikes in the range of 5-7 per cent and providing information regarding the school’s earnings and utilisation.

However, parents said that almost all the schools are yet to implement the regulations of fee ordinance in their set-ups.
