The Noida Metro Rail Corporation (NMRC) on Tuesday started the trial on Noida-Greater Noida Aqua Metro line. The trial was conducted between Greater Noida Depot at Alfa 2 and Noida Sector-153 metro station.

The trial on this link was earlier scheduled to start from December 2017 but it got delayed as Uttar Pradesh Power Transmission Corporation Limited (UPPTCL) was not able to supply power. After that, the officials of NMRC scheduled the commencement of trial at the end of April.

According to an official of NMRC, the UPPTCL has started giving 400KV power supply from its Sector-148 power substation. “We built two Receiving Sub-Station (RSS), which is located in Sector-148 and Sector-83 in Noida,” official added.

As per officials, incoming power supply at 132 KV voltage level will be taken from grid substation of state electricity board i.e UPPTCL, and will be stepped down to 25 KV for traction (train operation) purpose and 33 KV for power to feed station loads like lighting, air-conditioning, lifts, escalators, etc.

Officials said that civil work of 21 Metro stations on the corridor is complete and finishing touches are being given by the DMRC.

All Metro stations on the Aqua line will have hi-tech escalators, stairs, lifts and separate entry/exit for the differently-abled persons. The Metro stations are located in Sectors 52, 51, 50, 78, 81, Dadri Road, Sectors 83, 137, 142, 143, 144, 147, 153, 149, Knowledge Park 2, Knowledge Park 1, Pari Chowk, Alpha 1, Alpha 2, Delta 1 and Depot station.

The service is expected to benefit nearly 15 lakh people. Around 20 kilometres of the line is located in Noida and the rest is in Greater Noida.
