To address the growing menace of traffic congestion in Noida and Greater Noida, the transport department of Gautam Budh Nagar has started incorporating changes in traffic management. With the increase in population and increasing number of vehicles on the roads, there is congestion all around.

In such a scenario, traffic personnel are running left, right and centre to clear congestion on roads. The police officials have now decided to divide the traffic police into seven zones. One inspector will be there to look after these seven zones. These inspectors will be monitored by CO and SP traffic.

Four traffic zones have been made in Noida whereas three zones have been formed in Greater Noida, Dadri and Yamuna Expressway Authority Area. These zones will look after proper traffic management, encroachments and take action against vehicles violating traffic rules.

SP traffic, Anil Jha said, “Traffic congestions have worsened with the increase in population. Two traffic inspectors and around 128 policemen are on their duties to address traffic congestion. But, seeing the increase in vehicles on the roads, the district has been divided into seven zones.”

“The number of inspectors will be increased to seven. This traffic management system has already been implemented. Some of the police forces and three inspectors are yet to be deployed. The traffic situation in the area is expected to become better and the crusade to act against traffic violators will be strengthened,” he added.

Senior police superintendent Ajaypal Sharma has given charge to four inspectors for their respective zones and this system was implemented from Wednesday. Inspectors Layak Singh, Vikram Singh, Anil Kumar Panday and Vinod Kumar have taken charge of Zone-1, Zone-2, Zone-3 and Zone-4 respectively. At present, these inspectors will also look after other zones as well.

“Better traffic management is the biggest need of the city at present. The zoning system was introduced to address this challenge which has already been implemented. Now, people will see significant improvement in the traffic system in the city,” said SP traffic.
