Noida: Air-conditioner mechanic gets seriously injured after compressor blast

An air-conditioner mechanic got seriously injured after compressor blast during repair at a general store of a market in Amrapali Zodiac in Sector-120. The incident took place in Aggarwal Provisional Store around 1.30 pm. The victim was identified as Shivam.

The blast was so intense that the window of the shop was shattered. Shivam sustained severe burns after the explosion of a compressor of a split AC unit.

According to police, the victim was filling compressed gas in the AC unit. “Prima facie, it appears that the blast took place due to high pressure of the gas that was being filled,” said police.

Amit Kumar Singh, the station officer of Phase-III police station said, “The blast happened when Shivam was repairing the AC of the shop. “The compressor of the AC blew up leaving the mechanic injured. The victim was rushed to Tripathy Hospital in Sector-119,” Singh said.

An official of the Tripathy hospital said that the victim received burn injuries on his face, hand and other parts of the body during the blast. “Right now, he is stable but we will keep him under observation in the next 24 hours. After that, we will tell more about him,” the official said.

Joginder Singh, a resident of Amrapali Zodiac told City Spidey that the market built by the developer was not approved by the Noida Authority.

“The Chief Fire Officer conducted an inspection and clearly mentioned in his report that there is no passage through which fire tender can enter into the site of towers M, N, O,P, Q and R of the society in case of an emergency. The builder has constructed the market in front of these towers,” Singh said.

Singh also said that we wrote letters to Noida Authority several times to remove this market but nothing was done from their side to change the scenario.
