Burglars in Greater Noida have become so fearless that they are now targeting homes in the posh residential societies of the city, including those in the officer's colony. Residents are especially worried as an IAS officer’s and an NRI doctor’s homes were robbed on Sunday.

In the first incident some robbers barged inside the bungalow of IAS Vibha Chahal on late Sunday night. Chahal has alleged in her complaint that the robbers had sneaked into the house and locked her and her family members in the room where they were sleeping. She further said that they fled away with Rs. 5,000 cash and jewelry worth Rs. 7 lakhs. The police said that the incident took place in sector Gama-I of the officer's colony.

Shockingly, the bungalow of the IAS officer is located next to the house of the Superintendent of police, Greater Noida and the colony is considered to be one of the most secure localities of the city.

"Based on the compliant received, a case has been registered at Kasana police station and investigations are underway. We are looking into the CCTV footages to record the movement of any suspicious person near the house. Moreover, we are also questioning the guards deployed outside the house and expect to apprehend the criminals soon" said Amit Kishor Shrivastava, Circle Officer-I, Greater Noida.

In another incident the robbers burgled a NRI doctor’s house in posh AWHO society of Greater Noida and fled away with cash and valuables worth Rs 10 lakhs.

The police said that although the doctor resides outside, his sister lives in a flat of the AWHO society.
