Gurgaon: Multilevel car parking opens near HUDA City Centre Metro station

A multilevel car parking offering very cheap rate was opened at a distance of only 350 metres from HUDA City Centre Metro station on Monday. Commuters will only have shell out Rs 25 for six hours at the new parking facility in Sector-29.

It was inaugurated by Chander Shekhar Khare who is the administrator of Haryana Urban Development Authority (HUDA).

The revised rate will be effective temporarily and the cost of monthly passes is not known yet. Earlier, the parking authorities used to charge Rs 50 for six hours and further Rs 10 for every subsequent hour.

The multilevel car parking is having semi-automatic systems like a hydraulic platform and car lifts. It has two basements and four floors for parking of vehicles.

One can park his car at the rates of Rs 25, Rs 45, and Rs 55 for 6, 12 and 24 hours respectively. The parking charges for two-wheelers are Rs 15, Rs 25 and Rs 30 for 6, 12 and 24 hours respectively.

Earlier, the parking charges for two-wheelers were Rs 20 for the first 6 hours and Rs 5 for every subsequent hour.

“This will bring relief to many people who presently find it difficult to park vehicles around the Huda City Centre Metro station. I hope multilevel parking will resolve parking problems of the city to a large extent,” Khare said.

Khare said that the rates have been slashed to attract more commuters at the parking.

“This is the first multilevel parking in the city with space to accommodate 1,000 cars and 200 two-wheelers. The ground floor and first floor have been earmarked for a shopping complex and stores of apparel, lifestyle and auto workshop brands,” said Rakesh Sharma, the project head of International Infrabuild Private Limited, the company which was awarded the work in 2015 by HUDA, for a period of 33 years.

Rs 2.66 crore per year will be given by the company as lease rent to the HUDA. In early 2014, the HUDA had requested applications from companies to construct multilevel car parking. The construction began in January 2017 and got finished in March 2018. It was constructed with a cost of Rs 150 crore.

A display board capable of showing availability of parking spaces will also be installed outside the multilevel car parking.
