The drains will be cleaned before the arrival of monsoon so that residents are not affected by water logging.
Authorities in Ghaziabad and Noida have decided to undertake necessary measures to clean all the drains flowing in their respective cities by 15 June. This will help in taking care of the water logging problems which usually occur with the arrival of monsoon.
Assistant Commissioner of Ghaziabad Municipal Corporation Pramod Kumar said that a team of officials have been appointed to oversee the cleaning of six drains in every district. He further added that all the 350 smaller drains in the city will be cleaned by 30 May.
Kumar has said that as per the cleaning process, the garbage coming with the silt is being removed instantly and the silt itself will be removed after twenty-four hours.
Kumar said that contractors will be given the job of cleaning 65 bigger drains of the city. Moreover, he added that the process of inviting tenders regarding this process will be completed within a week and all the drains of the city will be cleaned by 15 June.
The health department of the Noida authority too has followed suit and orders have been placed for cleaning of all the city’s drains by 15 June.
