Tragedy waiting to happen

Residents of Udyog Vihar, Sector 82, Noida are living in constant fear of being electrocuted. As many as 35 electricity panels out of 50 in the locality are open and unattended. Even doors of some of panels are damaged and corroded. These panels are posing a serious threat to the residents, especially children.

Residents of the society have complained to Noida Development Authority (NDA) and PurvanchalVidyut Vitran Nigam Ltd. (PVVNL). No action has been taken so far to mitigate the problem.

Speaking to CitySpidey, RWA vice-president, Gyanendra Yadav, said, “Authorities are indifferent to the problem faced by the residents. Why else would they sit idle despite receiving so many complaints from us? I guess only a tragedy could stir them out of slumber."

Speaking to CitySpidey, Sanjeev Mohan Garg, Executive Engineer, NDA said, “ We have cleared the tenders for installation of panels.Work has already started in some Sectors and we will be fixing Sector 82 panels in another 2 months’ time.”
