Noida Extension: Rising cases of theft inside Panchsheel Greens a big worry

The residents of Panchsheel Greens, a residential society in Noida Extension, are totally miffed with the security inside the society. It has become very common to see locks of vehicles broken and CCTV cameras also fail to capture the incident.

Residents complained that CCTV cameras are also not installed in common areas of the society. They said that it has been found that many vendors who visit the society on regular basis are relatives of the security guards.

A resident, Naval Kishore said, “Some security guards are helping thieves. Obviously, they will help because they know that they will never be caught as there are no CCTV cameras.”

“There are many societies where security guards do less work because their work is done by CCTV cameras. There is also a lesser number of CCTV cameras installed in the society. Many CCTV cameras also do not function properly,” he added.

“A few days back, a lady parked her new car in the basement but when she came back in the morning, she found that the lock of vehicle broken. When she contacted the maintenance team of the society, they ignored it and told the lady that she is responsible for this incident,” a resident Vikas Kumar said.

“Last month, two bikes were stolen from the society and no one was caught on the cameras. When we demanded the CCTV footage, maintenance manager said that he doesn't know the password of the camera. But after 3 days, the footage was removed automatically because the camera removes the footage after every 11 days,” he added.

Kumar also shared a story of the robbery in which the maintenance team found an ex-security guard involved in a robbery. “Six months back, the maintenance team caught a thief in a motorcycle robbery through the CCTV camera. After that, we came to know that that accused was the ex-security guard of the society,” Kumar said.

Residents also said that they have been given the advance maintenance charge to the builder at the rate of Rs 1.80 sqft plus taxes. As compared to other societies in the nearby areas, this amount is huge and the builder has given us bad security service.

“We wanted to remove this security agency and hire another security agency for the society. CCTV cameras should be installed at every common area and dark places so that the vehicles of residents are safe,” Kumar said.

“If the demand is not fulfilled by the maintenance team of the society then we can carry out a demonstration against the maintenance team and builder on May 25,” Kumar said.

There are 18 towers in the society and builder gave possession to more than thousand families in 15 towers whereas 3 of the remaining towers are still under construction.

Hussain Zaffar, the general manager of maintenance department of the society told City Spidey, “There have been some incidents in the society. We are going to increase the number of CCTV cameras in the society soon. Firstly, we will do a survey with the residents where the CCTV cameras need to be installed.”

Zaffar said, “We are going to change the security agency soon. We will hire the best security agency for the society.”
