People waiting for buses in Delhi will be getting the information about bus routes at the bus shelters itself. Like Metro stations, each bus shelter will have a complete map of the bus route on a particular road.

A facility of Integrated Transit Map was on Thursday launched at a bus shelter on Vikash Marg near Delhi Secretariat. This Integrated Transit Maps at bus shelters will be helping the commuters in planning their journey in public buses.

The Integrated Transit Maps are uniquely designed for each bus stop. It comprises a visual cognitive map for all bus routes passing through the bus stop including Delhi metro network and key landmarks overlaid on the map of Delhi.

Launching the pilot project, Delhi transport minister, Kailash Gahlot said, “Delhi government is undertaking all efforts to make Delhi’s transport system modern, efficient and a preferred mode of transport for residents and tourists in the city.”

The minister also informed that bus commuters will soon be able to get information about the arrival of buses at bus shelters using their smartphones. He said that the transport department has revamped its existing Poochho App and will be re-launching it with some new features in next two weeks.
