The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) announced the class 12th exam results on Saturday afternoon.

Toppers in Gurgaon however rued the fact that although the city offers excellent schooling, there is a dearth of higher educational institutions here.

Anshula Sardesai, humanities topper (98.4%) from Amity International School, sector 46, said that she wants to pursue her graduation in psychology from Lady Sri Ram College, Delhi.

Gurgaon is filled with only private colleges and has only one government college for higher education. As a result, parents in the city too want their children to pursue higher studies from outside.

Amisha Diwan, (Commerce Topper-98.6%), a student of Delhi Public School, Sector 45, said, “I want to join Sri Ram College of Commerce (SRCC), as it would help me in realising my dream of becoming a Charted Accountant.

The same is the case with Aakash Aggarwal-another topper from the commerce stream. He too has secured identical marks to Diwan (98.6%) and aspires to become a CA. Further, he too dreams of joining the Sri Ram College of Commerce.

Debajit Chakraborty, a student of science (non-medical background) at Amity International School, sector 43, scored 98.2% marks in the CBSE Class 12 exams. He has already secured 245th rank in the IIT mains and aspires to become an engineer.

Sargam Bhambhu, a student of DAV Public School, Sector 14 who has scored 98.3% in science (Medical stream) feels the city has very little to offer to the students after school and Delhi is the only option they look at. She said that she too intends to pursue her graduation from Delhi University.

Other top scorers of the city also aspire to join colleges in Delhi. Muskan Mudgil of Blue Bells Model School, Sector 4, who secured 97.2% marks in the exams, said that she intends to pursue Economics (Hons.) from SRCC. She further claimed that it would help her in preparing for the civil services.
