Noida runs short of place to get rid of waste after NGT bars dumping at Sec-54 A dumping ground

The controversy surrounding the dumping of waste generated in Noida is becoming a huge problem for the authority as it continues to face massive protests from residents regarding the issue.

The Noida authority was earlier involved in dumping and disposal of the city's garbage in Sector 54. However, protests erupted and the people knocked on the doors of the National Green Tribunal (NGT).

When the authority started digging a vacant plot situated in Noida Sector 123 for dumping of garbage, it had to deal with further protests.

Now, a recent order of the National Green Tribunal (NGT) has put a stay on dumping of waste at Sector 54.

Waste disposal committee’s member and social activist Mahendra Awana has said that the NGT has ordered the authority to stop dumping waste at the Noida Sector 54 site.

The authority is now clueless as to which place to select for dumping and disposal of the waste collected from residential and industrial areas of the city.
