A Kenyan expatriate woman was allegedly gang raped by five men on Wednesday late night at an unidentified house on Golf Course Extension road in Gurugram.

The police said that the victim was reportedly waiting for a cab at Bristol Chowk on MG Road, when three men in a white Scorpio, offered to drop her at her residence in Chattarpur, Delhi.

The police added that the woman sat in the car and the occupants in it, allegedly misbehaved with her and forcibly took her to a house in Gurugram, where two more of their accomplices were present.

The victim alleged that five people then raped her and later dropped her at an isolated stretch of an unknown road in Gurugram.

Police have detained three people accused of rape while two are still at large.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) East, Kuldeep Yadav, said, “The detained people are local natives from Ghata and Behrampur villages in Gurugram. Two work for a water tanker company while the third is unemployed. We are interrogating the accused and trying to trace the owner of the Scorpio car.”

Arvind Kumar, station house officer (SHO), Sector 55/56 police station,  said, “We are investigating the matter to trace the other two accused. A case under Section 376-D (gang rape) of IPC has been registered.”

Ravinder Kumar, public relations officer (PRO) Gurugram police said that the accused were in an inebriated condition at the time of the incident.

“The victim said that she was not familiar with the roads in Gurugram, so she did not know where they took her. The medical examination of the victim was conducted at Civil Hospital, Gurugram,” he said.

The number of rape cases in Gurugram rose from 131 in 2016 to 135 the following year. The number of molestation cases had also increased from 272 to 303 in the same period.
