Is there a gang at work in Uppal Southend?

Residents of Uppal Southend in sector 49, Gurgaon, are having sleepless nights owing to dozens of burglary cases being reported in the past six months.

Residents suspect a team of burglars at work as majority of the burglaries were carried out in a similar fashion while the occupants were away. The locks of the main doors, cupboards and lockers were broken in an identical manner.

Nitin Sirohi, a resident of S block, told City Spidey that there was an organised gang of burglars keeping a close watch on the activity of residents.

“We have been witnessing these theft and burglary cases every fortnight. The latest one took place in apartment S 283, belonging to Banu Shree Biswas. The burglars had stolen jewellery worth lakhs and some cash in two hours of the flat owner gone for shopping,” Sirohi said.

“My husband and I are in regular touch with the officials of Sadar police station. They have not been able to make any breakthrough in the case," said Biswas.

Sunil Malik, another resident, said that many of the residents were scared to leave their houses empty.

When contacted, Hawa Singh, CPRO, Gurgaon police, said that the police were analysing CCTV footage of the society to identify suspicious activity.

“We have also roped in local informers to catch the thieves. All the cases are under investigation and will be solved soon,” he said.
