As per the report of System of Air Quality and Weather Forecasting and Research (SAFAR), air pollution levels in areas such as at Delhi University, Lodhi Road, IGI Airport, Mathura Road, Pitampura and Noida were still in severe category.
People were having a tough time dealing with the severe air pollution in the national capital in last few days. Despite the conditions improving marginally, several prominent areas of the city still remain in severe category.
In last two days, the air pollution in Delhi reached “Severe Plus’ category.
As per the report of System of Air Quality and Weather Forecasting and Research (SAFAR), air pollution levels in areas such as at Delhi University, Lodhi Road, IGI Airport, Mathura Road, Pitampura and Noida were still in severe category.
As per the SAFAR website, the average Air Quality Index (AQI) in Delhi-NCR on Saturday evening was recorded up to 463.
According to the data by Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), the PM 10 level (presence of particles with diameters less than 10 mm) was recorded at 522 in Delhi-NCR and 529 in Delhi on Saturday. On Wednesday, PM 10 level had reached up to 824 in Delhi.
The PM 2.5 level (presence of particles with a diameter less than 2.5 mm), which had crossed “very poor” to “severe” category, has now returned to “very poor” category. As per the report, level of PM 2.5 was 124 on Saturday evening.
Taking immediate measures on Thursday, Delhi Lieutenant Governor, in a meeting with senior officials of all government bodies including municipal corporations, had directed to stop any kind of construction activities till Sunday.
