RWA of Noida Sector 27 has recently written to District Magistrate N P Singh seeking his urgent intervention to relocate a liquor shop which has been a bone of contention for the people of the locality for quite some time now.
The liquor outlet, the residents complain, has become a nuisance for the people living in the area. Customers are seen buying and consuming alcohol right outside the shop located at D block Market of the sector and creating scenes. On a high, these tipplers were found harassing passers-by and teasing girls and women by passing lewd gestures and remarks.
Arguing against the existence of the liquor shop, Rajeev Garg, general secretary of RWA, said I haven’t seen a liquor shop in any other residential area. In fact, no sector allows liquor outlets in their vicinity. Why then should the residents of Sector 27 are made to put up with one.
He informed that the RWA had earlier written to district administration urging removal of the shop from the sector. In its previous communication, the DM office had assured the residents resolution of the issue at the time of renewal of licenses of liquor outlets. One year has passed since then, but no action has been taken to address the concern of the residents.
