Sixty-four senior citizens had paid around Rs 18 lakh for a group trip to Dubai. The group was to depart on March 8, but just the day before, the tour was cancelled.
Senior Citizen Association (SCA) of Dwarka, duped by Mumbai-based tour operator, has reason to cheer. Dwarka police had recently arrested Nrupathy Shivajirao Manay of Globivo World Tours from Kalyan. He was kept in judicial custody and will be produced before Dwarka court today.
Sixty-four senior citizens had paid around Rs 18 lakh for a group trip to Dubai. They had opted for this operator because he was comparatively cheaper and was charging Rs 37,800 per person for a five-night, six-day trip. The group was to depart on March 8, but just the day before, the tour was cancelled because, in the words of the operator, the amount paid was not sufficient for the trip.
Frustrated and helpless, the members followed up the matter with the operator through emails and phone, but nothing helped. Finally, they lodged an FIR against the operator at Dwarka South Police Station.
President of the association, Balbir Singh Yadav, couldn’t be happier. Speaking to City Spidey, he said, “We will continue our fight — I am sure he has duped many others like us. Today, we’ll be present at the court.”
