Parents whose little girls were locked in the basement of the school for alleged delay in payment of fee are miffed with the Delhi government for not taking immediate punitive action against the school.

One of the fathers, whose little girl was one among the victims, said, “Schoolchildren in this school have been punished regularly. They even behave badly with parents if parents are late in paying the fees even by a day or two. But this time, the matter has come to head.”

Father of another girl raised questions over the chief minister’s declared visit to the school. “It would have been better if the chief minister had visited the school suddenly, without making any prior announcements. The reality would have been clear to him then,” he said.

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, along with education minister Manish Sisodia, visited Rabea Girls’ Public School on Thursday.

The chief minister assured the parents that the government will initiate strict action against those found guilty. “The government has asked the education department to investigate the matter and submit its report within a week. The government will take action in accordance with the inquiry report,” the chief minister said.
