Prateek Wisteria in Sector 77, Noida, organised a unique camp for its residents. Though most residents use piped natural gas, or PNG, for cooking, few know the dangers associated with it. The camp gave them a quick rundown on the do's and don’ts in the event of a gas leak or a similar emergency.

The one-and-a-half-hour session taught residents how to use portable fire extinguishers and other equipment.

Bhavarjeet Kaur, a resident, said, “It was a useful session. Many people stay at home for the better part of the day. In case there’s a fire, it's easy to panic and not take the right decision. Hence, a session on fire safety was necessary. IGL officials also showed us spots that are the most prone to gas leaks."

Another resident, Yudhvir Singh, confessed to not knowing how to use fire-safety equipment before the workshop. Residents Amit Gupta, Savita Singh and Nisha Rai, who were present at the demonstration, said they felt more confident now about what to do in case of a gas leak.

Security guards and office managers, too, were present at the session.
