DPS rape: Furious parents protest at school, demand resignation from principal

Following the heinous rape of three-and-half-year-old girl, the agitated parents on Monday staged a protest against the management at the Delhi Public School (DPS) in Greater Noida. The parents started assembling at the school premises at 9 am in the morning and they demanded the safety of their wards from the management.

As the number of protesters increased rapidly, the school’s management called the police. The parents were told that the principal would meet them to assure their children’s safety in school.

Some of the parents said that if anything wrong happens in the school then the principal should take the responsibility. They demanded the resignation of the principal till the time the process of investigation is on.

A parent, whose daughter is studying in class 9th, said, “We are really worried as the culprit is not even sparing the little ones. It is really worrying how the school management will save children from these types of staffs.”

During the group question-answer session with the principal, one of the parents alleged that her daughter, who is attending school in the last 4 years, informed that the teachers always stand in the shed to escape from the sun during the horse riding classes.

The Noida police have already arrested a 42-year-old lifeguard for allegedly raping a three-and-half-year-old girl inside the premises of DPS in Greater Noida.

Some of the parents also alleged that the school was hiding something and the probe should be done in a transparent manner. “How the school did not know about the incident for two days, the principal’s statement was wrong,” parents said.

“After the tragic incidents of deaths in schools of Gurgaon and Ghaziabad, the other schools have not learnt any lessons. District administration and state government should make some tough rules against the school and the responsible person should be behind the bars,” Rajesh Shukla, a parent said.

“The incident is really shameful. On one side, the government promotes the slogan of “Beti Bachao Beti Padhao” and we fear to send our kids to school. The administration should take strict action. All the schools should assure the parents about the safety of the kids,” a parent said.

ADM (administration) Kumar Vineet, who is a part of the probe team formed by the DM, told City Spidey that the committee has many members with different expertise. “We will make the report and it will be submitted to DM within 15 days,” Kumar said.

He also said that two members of the committee reached the school on Monday for the inspection but they are still due to disclose the inspection report.

BN Singh, DM, said, “For such incidents, we have a zero-tolerance policy. I met the parents of the victim and assured them all help. They seemed to be satisfied with the investigations so far. Based on the findings of the committee, the action will be taken.”
