The couple was declared brought dead by doctors at Deen Dayal Upadhyaya hospital. The injured children are under treatment at the hospital.
A couple on Monday died due to roof collapse of their house in Hari Vihar colony located near Dwarka Metro station. The three children Vaibhav (19), Gulshan (16) and Gungun (9) got injured in the incident.
The deceased were identified as Sunil (40) and his wife Rachna (40). They were declared brought dead by doctors at Deen Dayal Upadhyaya hospital. The injured children are under treatment at the hospital.
According to the sources, the incident happened early morning due to seepage which happened after the rainfall on Sunday.
A PCR call was received at 3.30 am at Dwarka north police station regarding the incident. Police said that the roof fell down because of seepage of water. The iron rods which were holding the roof got weakened after the seepage.
According to the police, the elder son of the deceased, Vaibhav, told that the house was 20 years old and its roof had become weak.
Police further said that the family had also put a layer of bricks over the house to control the leakage from the roof. They said that the roof could not handle the load and it collapsed after the rain.
