Here's why Mahagun Mansion Ph I is about to file an RTI

The Indirapuram society needs both its completion certificate and its deed of declaration to form an AOA. Will the builder comply?

Here's why Mahagun Mansion Ph I is about to file an RTI

Residents of Mahagun Mansion Phase 1, a residential society in Indirapuram, are set to file an RTI to get their hands on the completion certificate and the deed of declaration of the society.

A society needs both documents to form an Apartment Owners Association (AOA). Although the AOA was formed in 2008, it will not be formally recognised until the society receives its completion certificate and deed of declaration from the builder.

The maintenance of the society is still under the builder, which residents believe is a means to coerce money from flatowners.

Members of the AOA met board members of FedAOA, the apex body of Ghaziabad residents' association, to discuss the issue on Sunday. The meeting was headed by Alok Kumar, president of FedAOA, and attended by Mohit Mishra, Ravindra Saini, S Ganpathy, Ravi Bhushan, Rajashri Avatar, Shekhar Shrivastava, Milind Manasvi, Shantanu Sinha and Rajesh Raghuwanshi, who, apart from being members of the federation, also play significant roles in their respective societies.

Milind Manasvi, head of the society's external affairs committee, told City Spidey that the AOA had been struggling against the builder for more than five years now. Without the documents, the AOA has been unable to get the society registered. "Members of FedAOA advised us to file an RTI, as the builder has not addressed the issue," Manasvi said. "If the Ghaziabad Development Authority [GDA] fails to provide the documents, we will have to take legal action against the builder."

City Spidey tried to get in touch with Rajeev Srivastava, GM, Mahagun India, and Dhiraj Jain, Director (Marketing), to know their take on the issue. However, both were unavailable for comment.
