CM Khattar fails to lend an ear to Gurgaon homebuyers

Despite the Haryana CM being in the city to attend a grievance meeting, homebuyers were stopped by security guards from seeing him.

CM Khattar fails to lend an ear to Gurgaon homebuyers Residents protest outside the mini secretariat on Sunday.

Hundreds of homebuyers in Gurgaon were irked when security guards refused to allow their representatives to meet Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar at the district grievance meeting on Sunday. They staged a protest at the gate of Mini Secretariat and shouted slogans against Khattar and real estate developers in the city.

Due to slow or no progress in construction work, homebuyers have been waiting for possession of their properties for two to three years now. Many developers started their projects at the beginning of the decade, with promises of completion in 36 months. However, many homebuyers are yet to step into their completed flats.

Also, there are many private developers in Gurgaon who are facing charges of cheating and criminal intimidation. In fact, the local police has registered complaints against Hem Singh Bharana, MD of Era Landmark Pvt Ltd, Sanjay Chawla, of Emaar MGF, along with others from the construction industry.

Mahendra Mathur, who had booked a flat in Era Land Mark in Gurgaon, told City Spidey, “This is unfortunate and unfair, considering that developers have been troubling us for the past few years. The government is also indifferent on the issue.”

Cherrian Dogra, a homebuyer in AN Buildcon Ltd, said that the builder had stopped construction around the beginning of 2015 but had promised them possession the same year. However, it is 2016 now and there is still no clarity on when homebuyers will get their flats. “It is unfortunate that despite the CM coming to Gurgaon to attend a grievance committee meeting, he is not listening to us," he added.
